Sarah Palin: The Flack Jacket Of The Republican Party

About a year ago when Sarah Palin was still a celebrity, I received a lot of questions about the potential for her candidacy. My answer was always the same and my predictions about her have come true. Sarah Palin, whether you like her or not, was a piece of body armor to protect any realistic Republican challenger. I have worked successfully as a political strategist and allow me to show you how the party used her.

The Republicans know that the media is mostly left leaning. Even “pro-female” shows like The View dropped their fake women’s’ rights act to slam Palin against Democratic male politicians. Knowing this would be the fate of any candidate they put in the spot light, the Republicans choose to let Palin get slammed in the media to provide cover for the rest of the party.

If I were running a Republican campaign, which I have not, I would not want to throw a good candidate out there for the media wolves to devour for several years. Any candidate on the right needs to time their candidacy announcement carefully. They need enough time to become popular with independent voters, but not so much time that the media destroys them in front of those same voters.

Sarah Palin served a second purpose for the Republican party. Her advisors would tell her to say talking points that poked holes in Obama’s original platform. Although she could never beat Obama with independent voters, hers jabs would still take root in the voters’ subconscious. This would save work for the Republicans true 2012 candidate because that person would not have to waste time with the same jabs. Her attacks also started the process of breaking down Obama from “the golden boy” to more of a “fallible candidate” in independent voters minds.

As I predicted, about a year before the election Sarah Palin disappeared. The Republicans accomplished this mainly by using Donald Trump to steal her media spot light. They will now most likely run a candidate that will attract independent voters, knowing the Palin supporters will stay loyal to the party. It is still too early to say who they will run, but at least you now know how not to become a piece of political body armor.

Palin supporters will not necessarily stay loyal to the GOP if she is not the nominee. According to a Gallup poll released Monday, A majority of Republicans (52 percent) said for the first time that a third party was needed in American politics. An even larger majority (60 percent) of Tea Party supporters back a third party. I’d be willing to bet real money that those percentages include no small number of Palin supporters.

Being a republican, I always wondered why they unleashed her on the public. I always thought she made a mockery of the party, but after reading this, I now understand a bit of the madness. just hope that flack jacket with the mouthpiece doesn’t get accidentally elected to anything more substantial than the president of a neighborhood’s homeowner’s association. i’d be interested to hear your take on the true “up and comers” in the republican party, one that has a legitmate shot at taking the executive branch.
